  • Salary Package: $93,017 - $102,676 pro-rated (HEW 6) p.a. plus 17% employer's superannuation and annual leave loading
  • Appointment Type: Continuing / Part Time (0.4 FTE / 14 hours per week)
  • Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus (North Ryde)

THE ROLE

The Work Integrated Learning Support team is looking for an efficient, highly organised, and proactive Work Integrated Learning Support Officer to coordinate and deliver quality support services detailed information and advice for student placements and Work Integrated Learning (WIL) for undergraduate and postgraduate students to enhance the learning experience.

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and deliver administrative support for placements across the Faculty's educational courses, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements (as appropriate).
  • Support the coordination of support services for work-Integrated Learning, including clinical placement, internships, student volunteering, work placements and Co-op programs (as relevant) within a faculty.
  • In consultation with the Work Integrated Learning Team Leader, develop and support systems and processes that will ensure smooth delivery of placement activities for Faculty students, minimise risks and foster relationships with placement partners.
  • Provide information and advice to students and staff about placements and WIL activities, including maintenance and update of placement-specific resources such as Site Descriptors, Supervisor and Student Handbooks.
  • Contribute to risk management plans and responses to government legislative changes and/or external responses to health outbreaks (where relevant).
  • Work with relevant colleagues to ensure that students meet the requirements of their placement and/or WIL activity prior to commencement, including such things as compliance and setting-specific training modules, and report on compliance verification to relevant external bodies, including the use of any specific systems.
  • Monitor the progress of students while on placements/WIL programs and ensure that student assessments have been completed in accordance with their course, where appropriate.
  • Coordinate the incident response process to support students and educators, and act as a first point of contact for Fitness to Practice concerns (where relevant), ensuring prompt responses and escalation.
  • Maintain systems and databases supporting placements/WIL.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of key internal and external relationships, including new and existing partners and supervisors and any relevant external organisations to ensure the effective delivery of all placements/WIL.
  • Ensure all relevant University policies and procedures, including ethics protocols, are followed and adhered to in the design of the activities and communications with placement partners.
  • Work with departments and schools, where appropriate, to promote opportunities for internships, WIL and volunteer students across the faculty.
  • Work collaboratively with other areas of the University (such as the Shared Services Centre) to identify and implement opportunities for students and improvements to processes and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement to enhance and streamline the student experience.
  • Provide support to the relevant Faculty committees as required.

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience
  • Thorough knowledge of student placements and Work Integrated Learning programmes
  • Intermediate computing skills using Microsoft Office and database systems
  • Experience in providing advice and information about student and WIL activities
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in monitoring student placement progression and compliance
  • Time management and organisational skills, and ability to coordinate and deliver on competing deadlines
  • Proactively developing and implementing administrative process improvement
  • Strong customer service focus and ability to work effectively with students and stakeholders
