About the role
Reporting the General Manager, purpose of the Distributor & Key Account Manager role is to execute a sales strategy and implement the plan. Key to success will be identifying new & ongoing sales opportunities to increase the profitability of the business, using consultative selling techniques.
Responsibilities of the role
- Develop & execute a sales strategy aligned to the national business objectives
- Take responsibility of a forecast align to customer needs through an S&OP process
- Use consultative selling techniques to generate opportunities by exploring known and undeveloped needs
- Collaborate internally to expand your network of existing customers across business channels
- Attend & contribute to sales meetings constructively as a senior leader within the team
- Attend industry events; research and report on market trends to increase network and sales opportunities.
- Contribute to continued development of new SKUs for procurement to deliver that add financial value to the business & customer.
- Strong internal engagement with logistics team & external 3PLs.
Your Experience & Attributes
- MUST HAVE experience in high volume food products in foodservice
- Deep understanding of the Foodservice Distributors PFD, Bidfood, NAFDA, Countrywide and the way they buy in volume categories
- Highly developed commercial acumen and an ability to understand the broader commercial picture around pricing and ranging and making good commercial decisions on the fly
- Understand the need to operate at a fast pace and be in front of customers at the right frequency
- Ability to build very strong relationships, communicate and present effectively
- Ability to self-motivate and work autonomously as part of a larger team
- An understanding of Key Account groups in channels like Clubs/Pubs/HORECA/Industrial and QSR is a distinct advantage
This is an autonomous entrepreneurial role with frequent contact across the small but effective team across Australia. When not with customers you will work from your home office (WFH)
