About National Trust Queensland & Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
Voted one of the Gold Coast’s most popular tourist destinations, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is the crown jewel of the National Trust of Australia (Queensland) [NTAQ] properties. As one of Queensland’s earliest nature-based tourist destinations, the Sanctuary is a physical embodiment of everything the NTAQ represents: to protect, conserve, and celebrate the Environmental, Built and Cultural heritage of our State.
As we continue to offer an engaging and safe visitor experience to our visitors at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, we have an opportunity for a motivated and friendly Casual Grounds and Facility Officerto join our Visitors Services Team. Reporting to the Guest Experience Manager, our Grounds and Facility Officer will work in a hands-on capacity to support the wider team in ensuring the Sanctuary is clean, hazard and litter free and provide a friendly welcome to our visitors.
About the Role
As our Ground and Facility Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining our paths, grounds and public areas which includes, over 4km of paved pathways, wastebaskets, and restrooms. In this hands-on role your will respond in a timely manner to guests and special cleaning requests, and you will also provide friendly customer service and helpful information about Sanctuary facilities to our guests.
As we welcome our guests early and have our Sanctuary ready for when they arrive, rostered hours may vary between 5:30am – 10:00pm and weekend work will be required. Safe use of equipment and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is also an essential part of this role.
About You
You will ideally have experience in a similar role and can work productively and cooperatively within a small team, with the ability to follow direction without supervision and demonstrate initiative to complete tasks.
Other key skills and attributes we are looking for include:
- Physical fitness to perform all elements of a cleaning role including walking long distances, carrying a 15kg backpack for prolonged periods, emptying bins and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to adhere to WHS guidelines/policies and practices. Experience in working safely with commercial chemicals is an advantage.
- Good communication skills to interact in a friendly and professional manner with guests, team members and volunteers.
- Manual Driver’s licence and/or First Aid qualifications will be highly regarded but not essential.
- Ability to be rostered across a 7-day rotating roster (mostly early starts) and weekend/public holidays.
- Knowledge of the attractions of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary would be an advantage.
Just as our charter is to protect, conserve, and celebrate the Environmental, Built and Cultural heritage of our State – we also are committed to ensuring our Team Members are protected, taken care of and of course celebrated! We offer current and future team members:
