Gumala Investments Pty Ltd. As the Trustee of the General Gumala Foundation (GIPL). The Foundation was established as a public benevolent institution to relieve the poverty, sickness, suffering, distress, misfortune, or destitution of the Gumala Traditional Owners – the Banjima, Yinhawangka, and Nyiyaparli people.
GIPL has an exciting opportunity for an individual to join the team on a Part-Time basis, working 16 hours a week (Friday contract day required) on a 12-month part-time contract.
This broad and varied role will draw on your interest in an awareness of Aboriginal culture, customs, and protocols, coupled with strong research and organisational skills.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain and enhance risk and Compliance standards across the organisation in alignment with GIPL’s ethos and regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate effective governance processes and support management in risk and Compliance obligations.
- Maintain risk registers and statutory records
- Assist in regulatory compliance and reporting, including preparation and lodgment of regulatory returns
- Research legislative changes and develop compliance strategies.
- Assisted with the conduct of internal compliance audits and participated in external regulator audits.
- Communicate findings of audits to relevant stakeholders and monitor the implementation of action to educate personnel on relevant and applicable legislative and other compliance changes.
- Assist with maintaining appropriate frameworks.
- Assisted in compiling reports as required and provided service and support to management.
- Facilitate developing systems that ensure risks are identified, evaluated, and controlled.
- Ensure that the Compliance System is working efficiently within all the following fields:
- Client Service
- Corporate Governance
- Financial Management
- Human Resources
- Information Technology
- Compliance Management
- Risk Management
- Investment Management
- Instigate any changes that may need to occur to the Company Policies and Principles in relation to Compliance.
- Work closely with all staff members.
- Perform other duties as may be required from time to time.
- Proactively coordinate Governance and Compliance internal functions
- Provide a high standard of support for the Executive Officer and Board.
- Assist in preparing meeting documentation requirements, e.g., agenda, minutes, reports, etc.
- Assisted in preparing meeting agenda, taking minutes, distributing, following up, and supporting actions recorded as required.
- Facilitate and maintain positive communication with all stakeholders
- Support activities to prepare, run and lead the Annual General Meeting
- Support governance-level training and professional development plans
Eligibility Requirements
- National Police Clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to travel to the Pilbara for the Annual General Meeting
Essential Selection Criteria
- Experience in a similar role
- Tertiary or equivalent qualifications in Law or Business Management or similar
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills
- Well-developed computer skills, particularly using the Microsoft Office suite.
- Exceptional time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks.
- Outstanding communication skills and interpersonal skills, including maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels and to maintain confidentiality.
Desirable Selection Criteria
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector
- An understanding of working with Aboriginal Culture, including culturally sensitive issues
