We currently have an opening for an Industrial Designer to join our signage and wayfinding team in Melbourne.
The role requires a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the conceptual design and delivery of brand and wayfinding signage, environmental graphics, and exhibition design. Wayfinding strategy and master planning capability is essential as well as a keen understanding of 3-dimensional space and the role of signage in the built environment. In addition to working on your own projects, you will support other designers within the team (in collaboration and guidance from the Design Director and Creative Director) and play a key role in developing strong creative solutions to projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Designing highly creative wayfinding and signage solutions
- Managing a project from concept sign off through to implementation, collaboration and providing creative solutions for manufacturer
- Working with the Design Director to ensure the creative integrity and standards of the studio while ensuring efficient output of creative is developed within approved timelines, schedules and budgets
- Working with the Design Director to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organise and accomplish your work
- Attend briefing sessions with other members of the studio as required
- Preparation of 3-D mock-ups and samples for presentations to clients and other stakeholders as required
- Liaison with existing or new trade suppliers, creative collaborators and printers as required
- Ensuring all work is seen by the Design Director and Creative Director before stage completion
Experience and Qualifications required:
- Adobe creative suite, Rhinoceros, Keyshot and Fusion 360
- 5 years experience in the conceptual design and delivery of brand and wayfinding signage, environmental graphics, and exhibition design
- Wayfinding strategy and master planning capability wayfinding signage systems
- Strong creative thinker with design flair
- Broad and diverse range of cultural interests
- Specialised in or with the Architecture and Building sectors - have an understanding of their language and project expectations
- Diverse sector/discipline experience
- Experience in Design Documentation and Contract Administration
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing process and suppliers/consultants
- Strong architectural & signage experience
