Job Summary: 

We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Industrial Designer to join our small team of innovators.  The successful applicant will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing product solutions in response to client briefs as well as working with local and offshore manufacturers to bring those products to life.  In this role, you will combine your artistic flair, technical expertise, and understanding of manufacturing processes to create visually appealing, functional promotional products and custom branded merchandise.  

Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate with clients, management, and other stakeholders to understand Project requirements, and execute accordingly.  
• Conduct research and gather insights to inform design and product decisions, including market trends, user preferences, and competitive analysis. 
• Generate conceptual ideas and sketches to communicate design concepts effectively. 
• Create 2D and 3D digital models and renderings using industry-standard software tools. 
• Develop detailed product specifications, including material selection, manufacturing processes, and product dimensions. 
• Quickly Conceptualize product ideas using Adobe creative suite and other 2D methods to be able to respond to clients brief quickly and efficiently.
• Collaborate with factories and engineering departments to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability. 
• Work efficiently and to deadlines. 
• Stay updated with the latest design trends, technologies, and manufacturing processes.
• Source products from & negotiate with - Australian & offshore manufacturers.
• Manage projects from start to finish; from order signoff, prototyping/sampling, bulk production, QC right through to shipping to customer’s warehouse. 
• Arrange quality control checks and provide regular updates on all assigned projects.

Qualifications: 

- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial design, or a related field. 

- Minimum 3+ years’ experience as an Industrial Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design process and the ability to solve complex design challenges. 

- Proficiency in using design software such as Adobe Creative Suite, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar 3D tools.   

- Strong sketching and visualization skills to communicate design concepts effectively.

- Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials, and their impact on design decisions. 

- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment. 

- Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate design ideas and concepts to clients and stakeholders. 

- Attention to detail and ability to work within project timelines and budgets. 

- Passion for design, creativity, and a willingness to push boundaries to create innovative solutions. 

- Must be based in Melbourne and the ability to work both on site and from home.
