About the role:
The Vehicle Impoundment Support Unit (VISU) operates a 24/7 logistics service to support enforcement of Part 6A Road Safety Act 1986 in the metropolitan area as well as administratively supporting the state-wide Vehicle Impoundment Program. VISU applies a collaborative, innovative and customer centric approach in providing storage options for impounded vehicles which is critical to the success of the Impoundment Program, and to Victoria Police efforts in meeting their Road Safety objectives.
Logistics Officers provide logistical Warehouse Support for the Vehicle Impoundment (Hoon) program and reports to the Logistics Team Leader. We are looking for candidates with a diverse skill set and the capability to thrive in a dynamic work environment that places a significant emphasis on compliance with legislation. The ideal candidate will bring experience in a collaborative team setting, showcasing workplace resilience, strong interpersonal skills and expertise in both warehouse operations and equipment.

Your duties will include:
- Undertake a range of activities associated with the receipt, storage, return or disposal of vehicles. This also includes the movement of vehicles within the warehouses.
- Undertake the inspection of vehicles and record findings, escalating issues or disputes to the line manager.
- Undertake a range of property management activities including inventory, security, accountability, and traceability.
- Seeking instructions to ensure the timely and lawful return of disposal of property from abandoned vehicles.
- Complete a range of administrative functions.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Demonstrated experience with safe manual handling practices and high level of understanding of Health and Safety principles for a warehouse environment.
- Demonstrated experience using computers, related logistics technology or basic software programs to undertake audits, receipting and data entry activities.
- High level of communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, with an ability to liaise with all Victoria Police employees and external stakeholders or suppliers in a professional and courteous manner
- A commitment to the Operational Infrastructure Department Strategy Goals of Customer Centric, Collaboration and Innovation.
Requirements and relevant information:
- Two (2) x full-time, ongoing & one (1) x full-time fixed term (until 30/06/2026) positions available.
- This position is located at Raglan Street Preston.
- This position requires shift work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
