About Us

Sea World Cruises and The Tour Collective are the Gold Coast's longest-running marine tourism company. We deliver a collection of award-winning experiences, including Whale Watching, Dining Cruises, See Moreton snorkeling day trip, Arro Jet Boats, and Hopo the Gold Coast Ferry service.  

Our growing business operates 9 commercial vessels with a 10th under construction, and over 90 team members. 

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to co-ordinate our marine operations.  

The role is full-time Monday to Friday, with on-call weekend work in the unlikely event of a major failure.  

The role is extremely varied and interesting, you will work with some of the industry's best captains, to strive for 100% uptime and exemplary service delivery. 

This key leadership position includes the following duties:

  • Responsible for maintaining maximum uptime of our vessels by organising preventative and scheduled maintenance with our in-house mechanic, skippers, crew, and contractors
  • Manage our Safety Management System (SMS) to ensure compliance with AMSA marine orders 504
  • Collaborating with all teams across the business to drive improvement and innovation, to enhance our customer experiences whilst reducing cost where practically possible
  • Manage skipper's rosters along with daily approval of their timesheets
  • Responsible for auditing internal safety systems and maintenance programs, including accurate record keeping e.g. SMS compliance, crew inductions, initial and ongoing crew training requirements, incident reporting, documentation, and ensuring skippers and crew have up-to-date qualifications, etc
  • Responsible for coordinating risk management and business administration activities, to ensure legal, business, and safety compliance
  • Responsible for organising the warehouse, workshop, and spares
  • Fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork by providing hands-on leadership and mentoring of skippers, crew, and maintenance personnel
  • Conducting monthly skipper meetings to build rapport and skills
  • Work with directors and consultants to develop and support risk management activities
  • Collaborating on special projects 
  • Handling general tasks and duties assigned by the Directors.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by complying with Workplace Health & Safety obligations.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Management experience 3+ years
  • Leads by example, to help the team get the job done (including getting your hands dirty)
  • Experience as a Skipper, Marine Engineer, or Boat Builder with in-depth knowledge of marine operations
  • Comprehension of AMSA Marine Orders 504 and professionalism in working with government agencies, contractors, and employees to ensure compliance
  • Experience in managing a high-performing team e.g. rosters, delegating tasks, and project management
  • Experience in maintenance and work order scheduling
  • Leadership qualities to conduct quality safety shares/toolbox talks; and deliver effective Skipper meetings and Crew training sessions 
  • Continuous improvement mindset to identify risks, efficiencies, and preventative maintenance initiatives
  • Mechanically minded, with general knowledge of diesel engines
  • Organised with attention to detail, to complete administrative duties on time and at a high standard 
  • Professional presentation and great communication
  • Experience delivering Marine Tourism experiences is highly desirable (but not essential)
  • Driver's license (with LR / HR desirable)
  • Intermediate computer skills

This new position is based at the Main Beach head office, with some travel required to work locations in Bundall, Coomera, and Brisbane. 

We are flexible with the roster, including hours and days worked.
