ABOUT THE ROLE
The Student Experience includes a portfolio of Student Engagement & Success, Indigenous Student Engagement & Success, Chaplaincy and Libraries. The office is a key supporting function for the University of Notre Dame to functionally achieve its strategic priorities through providing best practice processes and support for students to attain a high level of satisfaction.
This position reports to the Deputy Director, Student Life and is responsible for leading the Student Life area and the delivery of activities, programs and administrative projects to enhance Student Life nationally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic advice and direction in the development of Student Life projects by ensuring the effective use of the University’s resources to enhance the student experience from application through to successful graduate outcomes and beyond by developing and implementing new initiatives.
- Enhance individual and team effectiveness and efficiency through performance management and identification of appropriate training and development, including and in consultation with staff, set performance targets, goals, objectives and priorities.
- Oversee the management of administrative matters relating to operational and strategic planning, governance, budgeting, resource management and workforce planning.
- Maintains a commitment to continuous improvement and by reviewing and adopting best practices consistent with the University’s policies, procedures and practices.
- Develop and maintain all relevant internal relationships by engaging with stakeholder groups across the University and contribute (as required) to working groups, committees and other university bodies.
- Provide leadership and oversight of student activities and programs to effectively plan and implement various activities.
- Supportive of the Objects of Notre Dame as a Catholic University.
- Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification and/or working towards a postgraduate qualification or an equivalent combination of education and training management experience.
- Demonstrated experience working at an operational level in the higher education sector. (essential)
- Proficient in the distribution of papers, reports and proposals.
- Exhibit an awareness of contemporary issues in the higher education sector.
- Hold a strong ability to build relationship across the University with stakeholders and teams.
- Acquired strong analytical skills and project management workflow.
- Hold exceptional time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
