MANAGER, COMMUNITY & PLACE
(Full Time)
An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic and experienced Manager, Community and Place to join the Shire’s Community Services team. This role includes:
- Monitoring and review relevant annual business plan objectives, strategies and actions, and report on results, with a focus on sport and recreation, early years, youth, seniors, CALD, ATSI, access and inclusion, arts and culture.
- Encouraging the development of community participation and leadership through recognising and supporting innovative community development practices which promote the concepts of self-help and volunteering and contribute to sustainable communities.
- Supporting the implementation of Council’s strategic priorities and community needs through the research of and preparation of grants submissions on behalf of the Shire.
- Supporting community organisations through the development of multi-year funding agreements and the Shire’s community grants program.
- Assisting with advocacy and the development of partnerships with all spheres of government, business and services about community needs, funding arrangements, community consultation and other community concerns.
- Supporting a place management and making programs that will be responsible for delivering a place based collaborative approach to the design and development of the Shire, ensuring social and economic well-being are enhanced.
- Planning, organising and overseeing community events from start to finish according to requirements, target audience and objectives.
- Submitting reports to Council, as required, and ensure Council is kept informed on current issues affecting the community.
- Overseeing of the York Swimming Pool, the Community Resource Centre & the York Recreation and Convention Centre.
- Overseeing the cultural heritage activities and programs.
Remuneration:
The salary for the position is offered in accordance with Level 7 of the Shire of York Inside Staff Collective Enterprise Agreement 2019 ($89,992 - $94,357). Placement within the range will be determined by the applicant’s age, skills and experience.
The Shire offers a Wellness Program which includes free gym and pool membership at the Shire owned facilities as well as other health initiatives.
11.00% superannuation plus salary sacrificing option with matching Shire contribution up to 3.5%.
