The key duties of the position include
The Role
Within the Administration Compliance function, the APS4 Administration Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex human resources and workforce training associated work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have a good understanding of and compliance to HR and training governance, good decision-making and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders of the Defence Force School of Signals (DFSS).
About our Team
The Defence Force School of Signals Operations (DFSS OPS) Team is responsible for coordination of scheduling, resourcing, current projects and task management, financial management, and personnel management for DFSS. The DFSS OPS Team consists of ten members, led by the Unit Operations Officer, with support from Current and Future Operations Staff, a Quartermaster, five Trade Managers and an Operations Sergeant. DFSS OPS is directly responsible for the DFSS Logistics Support Troop (LST), IT Cell, and the Communications Security Vault.
DFSS OPS daily functions include liaison with, and receipt of tasks from Higher Headquarters units, engaging with various external stakeholders, and working with the Operations Groups from Subordinate Wings of DFSS, disseminating, directing and tracking tasks as required.
DFSS OPS is also responsible for routine or recurring future planning functions, such as resource and financial forecasting, and future activity scheduling.
Our Ideal Candidate
The APS4 Administration Officer in the DFSS OPS Team will be required to perform human resources and workforce training administration compliance functions, and provide administrative support to the DFSS OPS Team. The role consists predominantly of routine administrative tasks, conducted as required regularly on an established schedule. The role requires a good understanding of, and compliance to human resources and training governance, relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
Key characteristics sought from candidates are the ability to effectively communicate with and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders of DFSS, sound decision making, and the capacity to operate with some autonomy on issues of moderate complexity within role defined parameters. Ideally, a candidate would have experience with the Objective Navigator Database, and the PMKeyS system, specifically expertise with the Professional Development and Training Module Administration functions.
