We are a dynamic, privately owned custom builders with a significant portfolio of single storey and double storey dwellings as well as subdivisions.
We are headquartered in Truganina; an overseas team based in Visakhapatnam City in India supports our busy operations in Australia.
The Role
Sunnyview Homes Pty Ltd has an opportunity for a Human Resource Manager reporting to the Managing Director. This role is responsible for proactively handling operations on employee relations matters including supporting and managing complex cases. You will also work closely with the Directors and key leadership team to deliver people and culture outcomes in line with the business strategy.
Position & Responsibilities Summary
- HR Strategy and Planning:
· Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the company's overall goals and vision.
· Collaborate with management to forecast HR needs, ensuring the organisation has the right talent for future growth.
· Implement workforce planning and talent acquisition strategies to attract and retain top talent
- Employee Relations and Engagement:
Promote a positive work environment by cultivating a culture of respect, diversity, and inclusion. To serve as a model for the staff through personal and professional conduct.
Act as a mediator to address and resolve employee conflicts and grievances, in an assertive manner.
Design and implement employee engagement initiatives to boost morale and productivity, and also promote schemes for performance recognition.
- Talent Acquisition and Onboarding:
Run the recruitment process to attract qualified candidates for various positions.
Develop effective onboarding programs to ensure a seamless integration of new hires.
Establish employer branding strategies to attract top candidates in the industry.
- Performance Management:
Lead the performance management process, ensuring clear goals and expectations are set for all employees.
Train managers on performance evaluation techniques and provide guidance for performance improvement plans.
Identify opportunities for employee development and career growth.
- HR Policies and Compliance:
Keep up to date with labour law changes and ensure HR policies and practices comply with local legislation, both in Australia and in India (for the support staff based there, overseeing local HR Consultant).
Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks.
Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to HR and employment standards.
- Benefits and Compensation:
Ensure that competitive and fair compensation packages are in place to attract and retain top talent.
Conduct salary reviews and benchmarking to align compensation with industry standards.
- HR Reporting and Analytics:
Prepare HR-related reports and present key HR metrics to the Managing Director.
Utilise data-driven insights to make informed decisions and recommendations for HR improvements.
Requirements:
Tertiary education.
Proven success in HR roles, with at least 3 years of HR experience.
Extensive knowledge of HR principles, practices, and employment laws.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities, with the capacity to build strong relationships with stakeholders across different cultures and language groups.
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in HR software, Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Demonstrated understanding of the law relating to workplace and industrial relations and an ability to interpret and apply awards, legislation, contracts and policies and procedures.
Demonstrated experience managing and/or advising on unsatisfactory performance/conduct, change management processes, grievances, terminations and redundancy processes.
Knowledge of application and interpretation of Fair Work Act
Ensure operations are compliant with the Fair Work Act and proactively educate leaders, mentor and coach when opportunities arise. Roll out similar action for the India operations.
Review and deliver culture policies and procedures.

About you:
This is a senior level appointment. You will have a minimum of five years experience within a HR Department. Experience in the construction industry would be an advantage.
You will have excellent communication skills and possess the ability to work with a broad range of people from a variety of backgrounds. You will have experience developing key relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
You have strong influencing and highly developed interpersonal skills as well as being adaptable and flexible to work within a fast paced and changing environment.
You will need to demonstrate the poise and competence to formulate, lead and implement our HR Policy and also, as needed, to correspond with or represent us at formal bodies or at hearings of Australia’s workplace relations Tribunal ie the Fair Work Commission. Cross cultural sensitivity and gender sensitivity are a must, and experience of working in an international setting would be an advantage. Experience or knowledge and willingness to gain the knowledge to ensure compliance with local regulations is essential.
Reporting to the Managing Director, the HR Manager is the go-to person for all employee-related issues. Duties will involve managing activities such as job design, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training & development and talent management.
You will oversee Employee contracts and maintain oversight of the Company’s HR Manual, assess training needs, oversee the design of, monitor or deliver training programs.
Be willing to travel as appropriate to support our team in India. Frequent travel is not anticipated.
