The Projects Manager will effectively plan, organise, and oversee projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are executed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of stakeholders. This includes defining project scope, setting goals and milestones, allocating resources, managing risks, and facilitating communication among team members and stakeholders.
Leading a team of four direct reports, this dynamic role involves a combination of Brisbane-based work with flexible practices and on-site presence at Hidden Valley Mine in PNG, operating on the following roster; 9 days in PNG (Mine Site) 5 days off, followed by a 5/2 Mon-Fri, 5/2 Mon-Fri rotation in Brisbane.
Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Processing & Projects, the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Deliver successful outcomes that meet or exceed project objectives while maintaining high standards of quality and adhering to relevant regulations and industry best practices.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines.
- Allocate resources effectively, including personnel, budget, and materials, to ensure project success.
- Lead and motivate project teams, providing direction, support, and guidance to ensure high performance and collaboration.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions and delays.
- Communicate project status, updates, and changes to stakeholders, ensuring transparency and managing expectations.
- Monitor project progress and deliverables to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
- Budget Management: Monitor project expenses, track spending against budget, and implement cost-saving measures where necessary.
- Manage changes to project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes are followed.
- Address project issues and conflicts promptly, seeking creative solutions to overcome obstacles and keep projects on track.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including plans, schedules, budgets, and reports, to facilitate project tracking and evaluation.
To succeed in this role, you should be a highly experience engineering professional who is self-motivated and able to work efficiently and collaboratively in a team environment holding the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering or related field of study.
- Proven experience in project management, with a track record of successfully delivering projects on time and within budget.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Detailed understanding of contracting strategies.
- Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools (e.g., Agile, MS Project).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
