Correctional centres are responsible for the delivery of custodial services across Queensland. People in custody are supervised in either high or low security correctional centres. Access theIn this role you will:
- Oversee and monitor a range of internally and externally delivered rehabilitation and throughcare services for prisoners including education, vocational training, cultural services, re-entry services, and programs targeting substance misuse.
- Supervise and develop a small team of staff through demonstrated competence in frontline people management techniques including providing mentoring, coaching and performance feedback and appraisal processes.
- Allocate, prioritise, oversee and perform work tasks in accordance with legislation, departmental policy, practice frameworks, procedures and statutory, financial and administrative delegations.
- Working with Offender Rehabilitation and Management Services where required, plan and coordinate centre rehabilitation and reintegration activities including processes for informing prisoners, managing requests and waiting list processes, room scheduling and logistics, allocation of prisoners to appropriate activities and reporting on individual and service provider outcomes.
- Ensure assessments required to inform individual and centre level program and service planning are undertaken as required.
- In conjunction with the Manager, develop appropriate service responses to meet the identified needs of prisoner groups including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, young people, and those with disability.
- Identify and respond appropriately to risks and issues arising from offender rehabilitation and management including appropriate liaison with other professionals and business units
- Develop productive relationships with service providers, stakeholders and the community generally to enhance the community's regard for offender programs
- Participate in case management and sentence management activities for offenders
- In centres with small program teams, this role may be required to oversee internal program delivery, undertake program supervision and practice development of program delivery officers.
- Ensure records and information data for the Integrated Offender Management system (IOMS) are accurate and current
- Ensure maintenance, accuracy, appropriateness and security of records and reports for appropriate authorities
- Maintain own level of knowledge of contemporary offender rehabilitation research and practices, and legislation, policy and procedures in relation to offender management
- Promote value of offender rehabilitation to relevant agencies and support services.
