The Manager Development Engineering reports directly to the Executive Manager Infrastructure and oversees the Development Engineering team. The team is responsible for reviewing and approving subdivision development plans, as well as supervising and inspecting civil works during subdivision construction. Additionally, the team provides internal referrals to the Planning Department for inclusion within Planning Permits.
The role involves leading the efficient operation and performance of the Development Engineering Unit; providing expert engineering assessment, evaluation, and feedback on subdivision and development projects requiring planning permits; representing Council at developer forums and providing technical advice to internal and external stakeholders; ensuring that infrastructure assets created through subdivisions or other developments meet engineering standards; overseeing engineering compliance for large and complex development projects; and fostering a positive work culture within the Unit.
About you
You are a results-driven leader with a passion for shaping the city’s development and ensuring its future success. You bring proven expertise in senior engineering roles and experience managing a team, along with strong project management, communication, and presentation skills. Preferably you are tertiary qualified in Civil Engineering (or closely related) and eligibility for Registered Professional Engineers status. Your solid understanding of municipal and civil engineering standards and practices related to land development equips you to handle the responsibilities of the role with confidence. Your experience in planning and development, including technical management and corporate responsibilities, will enable you to thrive in this key position.
